Port Blair, Feb 22: DG Rakesh Pal, AVSM, PTM, TM, the Director General Indian Coast Guard, accompanied by Mrs. Dipa Pal, President CGWWA, arrived Port Blair today. The Flag Officer is on a four day’s visit to these strategically important islands to over view ICG operational and development plans in A&N Islands.

Soon after his arrival the DGICG visited HQANC to interact with CINCAN and discussed various matters related to maritime security and safety. The discussion also focused on fostering collaboration among stakeholders to enhance overall maritime resilience and efficiency in Andaman & Nicobar.

Port Blair, Feb 22: The Civil Aviation in Andaman & Nicobar Islands has achieved a major milestone today in making Veer Savarkar International Airport ILS (Instrument Landing System) ready. The draft ILS procedures have been successfully validated by Vistara flight UK 747 from Kolkata to Port Blair under the leadership of Captain Ishar Singh and first officer Mohammad Saifullah landed at 11:27.

Port Blair, Feb 22: The District Administration, N&M Andaman in coordination with the Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration, had conducted a Disaster Management training for 100 community volunteers under Up-scaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme in North & Middle Andaman. Subsequently, the Directorate of Disaster Management has provided the Emergency Response Kit to the District Administration, North & Middle Andaman for its distribution to the volunteers.

Port Blair, Feb 22: In view of the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2024, the Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS held a meeting with the Returning Officer, ANIPC, State Police Nodal Officer, ANI, Officers of Election Department to review election planner, SVEEP plan & welfare measures for poll personnel.

As per the Election Commission of India planner, various activities are to be carried out as per the schedule. The CEO also discussed to increase the voters turnout by carrying out various activities, creating awareness among voters to use their voting rights under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
